Take two monkeys, give them some rope, throw them in a lava filled cave and what do you get? Read on to find out!
Monkey Ropes is a platformer where you navigate two monkeys connected by a rope through a treacherous landscape filled with lava, green goo or angry jungle monsters. Or is it a simple tool used to deliver intrusive takeover ads for other, more polished mobile app games? I honestly can’t tell but the constant ads serve as a nice break from the actual gameplay which is lacking much of… anything really.
The goal of the game is to move your pair of monkeys across a jungle, lava floors (we get it, the floor is lava) or a cave! Yes, a cave, which looks suspiciously like the lava floors levels except the lava is now green instead of red. Variety! You will also encounter some snakes and other monkey eating animals, and some ads, lots and lots of ads.
But here’s the twist, the monkeys are connected by a rope! A rope which causes them to constantly fall in the lava, or the green goo depending on your preference for simian destruction. The one thing this game has going for it is that it’s not easy, whether by design or lack of design.
And now back to the ads… the so very intrusive ads. On the plus side, you can get rid of them by paying about $1.50 but for that same amount of money you can also get a can of pop or a bag of chips. I suggest you take the chips.
