I can hear the groans already… another puzzle game with balls… how creative. And replacing the S with a Z in the title, wow! Pure genius! But despite its rather lackluster name this puzzle game isn’t all too bad. For the older gamers this one will bring back some memories of a pair of classics, Pong and Tetris, with a bit of a challenging twist.
The goal is to fire a Pong-like ball towards a group of boxes, trying to hit the targets hidden behind and bouncing into the boxes as many times as possible. You can use the walls to rebound your ball back towards the boxes, increasing the number of boxes you hit before your ball returns to the starting position. Each target you hit gives you more balls that increase the effectiveness of knocking out the boxes that are descending towards the starting position in Tetris-like fashion. It can be a little tricky to get the hang of at first, but once you have gotten familiar with the controls you will be ready to put your angular skills to the test!
What keeps this one from getting a higher score is that despite being fairly challenging and having a bit of a learning curve it is just not all that addictive. You don’t feel compelled to keep playing for long periods of time and there is no drive to keep breaking your own records. It does, however, make you want to fire up a game of Tetris again…
